The much anticipated Crashfaster / The Glowing Stars limited split 7″ vinyl is finally here! On one side is crashfaster’s newest track “In Flames,” and on the other side will be “Shotgun” by yours truly. The vinyl is extremely limited as only 250 were made, and the vinyl colors are random. The album will be available on Thursday, February 14, 2013 on both the Crashfaster Bandcamp site and The Glowing Stars Bandcamp site for $15 (+$5 shipping in the US). The song will be FREE to download, and will include an LSDJ .sav file of all of our songs for our fellow chiptuners to enjoy.

If you pre-ordered the album, you should be receiving a shipping confirmation next week. Your order will arrive autographed by all members of both Crashfaster and The Glowing Stars.

You can also get the album early this weekend at Rockage 2.0 in San Jose, CA! Crashfaster and Matthew Joseph Payne will be performing and selling the albums. See below for the full schedule:

Thanks, Maker Faire!

We had an amazing time playing the entire weekend at Maker Faire in San Mateo. We played Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 on the Digital Sound Space stage by PulsewaveSF. It was such an honor to share the stage with other awesome chip/electronic artists like crashfaster (who we’re touring with in two weeks!), starpause, Mr. Spastic (who is playing with us at Meltdown Comics in LA), Doctor Popular, and Hyperwave to name a few. On Sunday, we shared our set with super-awesome visualist Max Capacity (see photo above). We also got to play on the Solar Stage that day:

Thanks to some familiar faces from our last (first) show for coming out! And thanks to all the new fans we met at Maker Faire who made their way onto our Facebook Fan Page and Twitter. If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out!

We still have a few things on the agenda before we kick off our Quest Coast Tour 2011 with crashfaster. We got a few more days in the studio finishing up our long-awaited debut EP and finalizing all the little details. We also have one more show coming up!

Friday, June 3 we’ll be performing at SubZERO Festival. It’s a street festival in San Jose, CA in the city’s SoFA District. If you’re in the Bay Area and want to catch us one last time before we leave, make sure you head on over! Did we mention it was free? More details can be found at http://www.subzerofestival.com/ or our Shows page.

See you all soon!

New mini webisode, and other videos

Here’s mini webisode #4 by Digital Accomplice about Game Boys. We forgot to post about the third mini webisode, but you can find that at our YouTube channel! We’ve also updated our Videos page, which features our latest videos. Give it a click at the top menu and check it out.

And speaking of videos, we found some cool live footage from our DNA Lounge show last Thursday surface the internet. Here’s a good one of our Queen cover of “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Thanks to Ryan Hom for posting it! The crowd energy is amazing in this video – everyone sang along!

New EP available for pre-order at DNA Lounge 4/7!

We can’t express how excited we are to be opening for Anamanaguchi and Peelander-Z TOMORROW at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco! We’ll also be selling some cool stickers, buttons, and patches. But, hey!!! Remember the time we asked people to donate their old Game Boy cartridges to us? Well, we’ll be releasing a limited-run physical version of our EP. These will be Game Boy cartridges modified into useful, reusable 1GB USB flash drives. The flash drives will have our EP on it, as well as some really awesome bonus material. That way, you can upload the music wherever you want (legally) and still be able to use the cart for miscellaneous storage. Plus, it’ll have an awesome custom The Glowing Stars label on it.

We’re only releasing 200 of these, and each will be numbered. We’re taking 100 pre-orders at the show tomorrow and opening the rest for pre-order online. These will sell for $20 at the show (extra $5 for shipping when pre-orders are available online).

By the way, we’re still taking donations for original Game Boy carts. Game Boy Color is OK, but we won’t take GBA. Those who have donated carts get an additional bonus. All of the specifics of the bonuses will be announced on our site in the near future. To donate a cart, e-mail us at theglowingstarsband [at] gmail [dot] com!

We team up with GamesRadar for their Weekend Giveaway!

Check out this cool video we did for GamesRadar.com! Every weekend, they do a giveaway. This weekend, it’s a bunch of interactive music shirts from ThinkGeek.

We took part of our song “I Know Now” and played it on these shirts, over our Game Boy track, of course. 😉 Make sure to check out GamesRadar.com on Saturday, April 2nd to check out the contest.

Many thanks to AJAPOPFILMS for shooting and editing this video.

Now playing at an internet near you!

We’re very pleased to announce a few new videos that have surfaced cyberspace in the last few days. Last weekend, we shot a segment with Veronica Belmont for Chevy Cruze-arati. They interviewed us on how we incorporate 8-bit game systems with our music. Here’s a sneak peek of our shoot posted by Veronica:

We also played our new song “Group Study” in the video, as well as created a brand new song – but you’ll have to wait until the full video comes out!
