Thanks for rocking out with us!

We had an AMAZING time at our debut show last night opening for Anamanaguchi and Peelander-Z! If you missed both the actual show and the livestream, someone thankfully uploaded our entire set on YouTube. Watch it above!

Major, major thanks to crashfaster for hooking us up with this show. He even performed for a bit before our set!

Now that our first show is out of the way, we’re going to take the time to finish up our EP, which a few people have been able to pre-order at our show. Those people will be receiving e-mail confirmations soon, and we’ll announce online pre-orders in the next week.

Where do we go from here? Well, we’ll be announcing our next show dates very soon once the dates our confirmed. We have a show in the works for May, as well as our first West Coast tour in June. Very exciting!

Oh, and not sure if anyone caught it, but we had a couple of QR codes out that linked to secret The Glowing Stars videos. Did anyone catch those? 🙂

P.S. Oh, and if we’re new to you, please check out our Facebook and Twitter, too! Oh, and YouTube!

New EP available for pre-order at DNA Lounge 4/7!

We can’t express how excited we are to be opening for Anamanaguchi and Peelander-Z TOMORROW at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco! We’ll also be selling some cool stickers, buttons, and patches. But, hey!!! Remember the time we asked people to donate their old Game Boy cartridges to us? Well, we’ll be releasing a limited-run physical version of our EP. These will be Game Boy cartridges modified into useful, reusable 1GB USB flash drives. The flash drives will have our EP on it, as well as some really awesome bonus material. That way, you can upload the music wherever you want (legally) and still be able to use the cart for miscellaneous storage. Plus, it’ll have an awesome custom The Glowing Stars label on it.

We’re only releasing 200 of these, and each will be numbered. We’re taking 100 pre-orders at the show tomorrow and opening the rest for pre-order online. These will sell for $20 at the show (extra $5 for shipping when pre-orders are available online).

By the way, we’re still taking donations for original Game Boy carts. Game Boy Color is OK, but we won’t take GBA. Those who have donated carts get an additional bonus. All of the specifics of the bonuses will be announced on our site in the near future. To donate a cart, e-mail us at theglowingstarsband [at] gmail [dot] com!

Mini webisode #2 – Past, Present, and Future

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Here’s mini webisode #2 where we talk about the past, present, and the future of The Glowing Stars. Hope you enjoy and spread the love!

Don’t forget to buy tickets to our show on April 7 with Anamanaguchi and Peelander-Z at the DNA Lounge! Advance tickets are already going fast!

Now playing at an internet near you!

We’re very pleased to announce a few new videos that have surfaced cyberspace in the last few days. Last weekend, we shot a segment with Veronica Belmont for Chevy Cruze-arati. They interviewed us on how we incorporate 8-bit game systems with our music. Here’s a sneak peek of our shoot posted by Veronica:

We also played our new song “Group Study” in the video, as well as created a brand new song – but you’ll have to wait until the full video comes out!

Buttons, April 7, and Japan

Our buttons finally arrived today, and just in time for our show with Anamanaguchi and Peelander-Z, which is in less than a month! Buying tickets early is cheaper (and recommended), so make sure you do so on the DNA Lounge website! We’ll have these, as well as more stickers, at our merch table at the show, as well as some other fun stuff. And if you’re on Facebook, you can RSVP here! Please spread the word, San Francisco!

Aren’t these buttons awesome? Big thanks to Mike Bombon, who designed these. Show him some love by visiting his website or following him on Twitter @VULTR3.

Also, many, many thanks to everyone who’s bought our tracks already on Bandcamp. We’ve raised some money and we’re donating 100% of it to American National Red Cross to aid Japan. You can still help out by visiting our Bandcamp page. Additionally, we’ll have a NEW song in a chiptunes compilation organized by True Chip Till Death and Pixelh8. If you donate money here, not only will you be helping out the country, but you’ll also receive an awesome collection of chip music from talented artists everywhere. For more information, visit The Chip Fund at firstgiving.com.

PAX East 2011!

Finally en route to PAX East 2011 in Boston, MA and I’m currently flying over Nebraska right now. The Glowing Stars stickers – I did not forget them! I’ll be passing ’em out on the showfloor. Follow us on Twitter to find out where I am.

One thing I’m especially excited about for this weekend is BOSTON8BIT‘s 3-day Chiptune Showcase at PAX. Check out the full schedule and lineup on Facebook. We’re hoping to someday play at PAX! But, more importantly, we’re already completely thrilled that we’ll be opening for Anamanaguchi and Peelander-Z at DNA Lounge on April 7. We already have some cool plans in the works for our set, so it’s guaranteed to be a fun show!

If you’re in the area, please come! You can buy tickets in advance from DNA Lounge online.

I’ll try to post some interesting stuff that goes on this weekend. I also am excited to post a promo video soon by ajapopfilms, so be sure to look for that on our site tomorrow. Hey, now I’m over Iowa!
