The Glowing Stars on SF Weekly’s All Shook Down Blog

If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, be sure to check out Convergence MMXII and the Fourth Annual J-Pop Summit at Japantown Peace Plaza. We’ll be playing a free show right outside at noon! SF Weekly’s music blog All Shook Down wrote a cool article about it today titled “The Video Game-Inspired Music of S.F.’s J-Pop Summit: A Chiptune Off the Old Block.

This is our last local show for a while, and the last show before we kick off our mini Northwest tour with crashfaster, minusbaby and more! First, we’ll be hitting up Slabtown in Portland, OR and playing with awesome Portland punk rock band The Bloodtypes on Wednesday, August 29. Then on Thursday, August 30, we’ll be playing a pre-PAX showcase at Funhouse in Seattle with Danimal Cannon, Freaky DNA and more!

For tickets, showtimes and more information, head on over to our Shows page!

See you at the shows. xoxo

Something old, something new

Happy Monday, everyone! We had a blast playing at the San Jose Museum of Art last week. Matt even played a couple of songs from his solo album Gargantuan Acoustic Locator during our intermission (yes, we had an intermission – it was fancy).

We have a few more local shows lined up until we head up north once again to play Portland and Seattle (more details on that to come). Our next show is Saturday, July 28 at California Extreme 2012. California Extreme is an awesome annual event in Santa Clara with free play pinball machines, arcades and more! For more information, visit our shows page or http://www.caextreme.org/

We’ll also be playing Convergence again this year at San Francisco’s Japantown Peace Plaza on Saturday, August 25.

At both of these shows, we’ll be selling our new T-shirts, designed by Awkward Terrible‘s Sam Decimus. We miss those guys, but we’ll be touring up the northwest with them and crashfaster in late August. Take a first peek at the new shirt design below!

Watch this space for new updates. Leading up to our northwest tour, we’ll be working on a new release and lots of other fun stuff!

Cinco de Mayo!

We’ll be playing the rockingest, rollingest Cinco de Mayo at Homestead Lanes in Cupertino! We’ll be sharing the stage with friends The Phenomenauts and The Bloodtypes (Portland)!

Head on over to Facebook and RSVP on the Facebook Event Page to let all your friends know that you’re going to the coolest Cinco de Mayo show ever, and that the only way they can ever achieve such coolness is by following suit and attending, too. You can also find details on the show on our SHOWS page.

See you all there!

A benefit for The Y

Yesterday was a blast! We were on Twit.TV’s Game On! and did a live performance. But, if you missed it yesterday, the archive is now up and you can view it here. We come in at about the 30-minute mark.

Our next show is this Wednesday, April 4 at Brick & Mortar in San Francisco. The show is a fundraiser for Urban Services at The Y, and we’ll be playing with Leilujh and Skyfalling! More details below. Hope to see you there for this good cause!

POW!

Thanks to everyone who came out to #Rockage in San Jose a couple of weekends ago. Grand Fanali Presents did a great job putting the show together, and San Jose Metro wrote a nice article about our set:

San Jose Metro | Rockage Festival Proves It’s Not Just For Nerds

We’re excited to play our next show on Tuesday, March 6 at DNA Lounge in San Francisco. We’ll be part of a special showcase during the week of the Game Developers’ Conference (GDC) called POW: Indie Music & Developers Collide.

Matthew Joseph Payne at #rockage

If you needed another reason to want to come to #rockage in San Jose, we’ve got one for you. Not only can you catch sets by us and crashfaster, you’ll also catch our very own Matt Payne as Matthew Joseph Payne debuting new material from his upcoming EP Gargantuan Acoustic Locator.

Announcing Horchata!

When our bestest chip buddies Awkward Terrible were in town last year for our fantastic show with Bit Shifter at the DNA lounge, we spent a couple days in the studio tracking four songs for what was originally planned as a split EP. What has evolved instead is a monster of a four-track collaborative EP, with all the members of each band playing on every song. The new EP is called Horchata, and will be available on January 20th to the whole world.

We can’t think of a better way to start the year than to share these new tunes with you, and we’re doing it in a big way. Awkward Terrible is coming to the SF bay yet again to share the stage. And when we say “share the stage”, we mean it. The show will feature not only sets from both bands, but a combined set with all four of us onstage, playing all the material from Horchata live together. Chaos will ensue. Hearts will be broken. Worlds will crumble.

See us play the show at The Blank Club in San Jose with our local chip favorite crashfaster on Wednesday, January 18th, where we’ll be selling advance copies of Horchata as download codes. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more information and updates about Horchata.
