Something old, something new

Happy Monday, everyone! We had a blast playing at the San Jose Museum of Art last week. Matt even played a couple of songs from his solo album Gargantuan Acoustic Locator during our intermission (yes, we had an intermission – it was fancy).

We have a few more local shows lined up until we head up north once again to play Portland and Seattle (more details on that to come). Our next show is Saturday, July 28 at California Extreme 2012. California Extreme is an awesome annual event in Santa Clara with free play pinball machines, arcades and more! For more information, visit our shows page or http://www.caextreme.org/

We’ll also be playing Convergence again this year at San Francisco’s Japantown Peace Plaza on Saturday, August 25.

At both of these shows, we’ll be selling our new T-shirts, designed by Awkward Terrible‘s Sam Decimus. We miss those guys, but we’ll be touring up the northwest with them and crashfaster in late August. Take a first peek at the new shirt design below!

Watch this space for new updates. Leading up to our northwest tour, we’ll be working on a new release and lots of other fun stuff!

The Glowing Stars on the cover of San Jose Metro

We’re a mere three days away from this weekend’s #rockage event at the San Jose Woman’s Club! This epic two-day event features 20 rock bands (including yours truly) and 50 free-play arcades! There’s no better way to mix our two loves – music and video games.

This event takes place this Saturday, February 11! Check out our SHOWS page for details and ticket info.

We’re also featured on the cover of this week’s San Jose Metro! If you’re in the area, pick one up! If you aren’t, you can check out the full feature in the paper at this link below:

We can’t wait to rock with you guys in the South Bay! Don’t forget, Matthew Joseph Payne will be performing his solo chip set that day, too!

Matthew Joseph Payne at #rockage

If you needed another reason to want to come to #rockage in San Jose, we’ve got one for you. Not only can you catch sets by us and crashfaster, you’ll also catch our very own Matt Payne as Matthew Joseph Payne debuting new material from his upcoming EP Gargantuan Acoustic Locator.

Even though his EP doesn’t drop until February 17th, you can get it in advance at #rockage.

You can also catch him at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco opening for string metal band Judgement Day on the previously mentioned release date.

Rodent to Rodent: Matthew Joseph Payne sessions from Matt Payne on Vimeo.

While you’re waiting for stuff from The Glowing Stars, check out what Matt Payne has been up to – Rodent To Rodent, a musical project with his father (whom he only met in 2009) 27 years in the making! They’re playing a show on February 19 and it’ll be their only show ever!

If you live in the Bay Area, don’t miss this show! Tickets and information can be found here: http://www.rodent2rodent.com
